In short
BestDownloader has no user accounts. We do not ask for your name, e-mail address or social media login, and the links you paste are used only to fetch the requested file.
What happens when you download something
- The link you paste is sent to our server, which retrieves the public video, photo or audio from the platform the link belongs to (TikTok, Instagram, X, Facebook, Pinterest or Reddit).
- The file is stored temporarily on the server so that your browser can download it. Temporary files are deleted automatically, at the latest 30 minutes after they were created.
- We do not keep a history of the links you enter or the files you download. Technical server logs are described under “Server logs” below.
Server logs
Like every web server, ours records technical data about each request – for example IP address, date and time, requested page address (without anything after a “?”, so links passed in the address bar are not logged) and status code. This is needed to operate the service, to prevent abuse (rate limiting) and to fix errors. Logs are kept only as long as necessary for these purposes.
Cookies, fonts and third parties
The site itself does not set cookies. The language of a page is determined by its address (for example /de/), not by a stored setting. Fonts and scripts are served from our own domain; no data is sent to font or analytics providers when you visit.
BestDownloader does not display advertising and does not load advertising or analytics scripts.
To show your recent links, the page keeps up to eight of them in your browser’s local storage. This list never leaves your device and can be cleared with the “Clear” button. The page registers a small service worker that keeps the static files (styles, fonts, scripts) in your browser so the page opens faster; it stores no links and no downloaded files, and an offline notice is all that is shown without a connection.
Your rights
Because we do not keep personal profiles, there is usually little data to access or delete. If you are in the EU/EEA you nevertheless have the rights granted by the GDPR, including access, rectification, erasure, restriction and the right to complain to a supervisory authority.
